If you want to CAMP OUT Friday and Sunday night there is an American Legion woman whose house was destroyed, but she has a large backyard with grass for 12 riders to camp out if they do the LDR run. We ask that $25 donations go to her since she is having a rough time with the building. Cheaper than a hotel and its like doing the Hoka Hey sleeping next to your bike. First come FIRST SERVED, its only for paid riders and NO one else. :-) (PLEASE INDICATE IN COMMENT BOX @ REGISTRATION YOU PREFER CAMPING /1ST COME - FIRST TAKE!)
**** RIDERS THAT HAVE REGISTERED TO CAMP AND ARE RIDING THE RALLY ARE TO MEET ME AT 4:00 PM AT THE AMERICAN LEGION HALL TO PAY THE $25 AND THEN WE WILL ALL RIDE TO THE PRIVATE CAMPSITE.*****
I have heard the cry of expensive hotel rates and they keys they always raise the rates during events. I NEED A HEAD COUNT OF HOW MANY WOULD DO THE LDR RUN IF YOU WERE OFFERED THE OPTION TO CAMP????? We are aggressively looking for a safe spot for people to camp Friday night before the run and the Sunday when you return tired. Pop tents next to your bike.
We will be reaching out to private land owners and maybe churches, but we make no promises. I will be pasting camping options that you can call for availability. Its sorta last min but we are trying out best.
A lot of smaller cheap hotels got washed away by the sea and demand is high while supply is low. Call the places I posted below.
Curry Hammock - Camping
A 28-site campground, located within view of the Atlantic Ocean, is open year-round. The main restroom has composting toilets and solar-powered hot showers that meet ADA requirements. All sites have a gravel parking area for cars and RVs, and most have an adjoining sandy area for pitching a tent, with the exception of #3, 10-19, 21, 26, and 28. Tents may be placed on any site, but the sites with sand tent pads are preferred for tenting. Site 1 is ADA accessible. Access to the beach is between #13 and #15. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table, charcoal grill, water and 20/30/50-amp electrical service. A dump station is available.
